Hello Chris,
I don't know what the protocol on these things is, but I thought I would take a chance and say hello. First I found your name on the Web connected with a search for information about Annie Atherton (posted a few years ago). Then I found something called "My Houghton Ancestors" that you wrote as well. And then found the rest of your home page on easystreet.
Looks like we're related. My great-grandfather was also Alfred Houghton and my great-grandmother was Annie Atherton. My grandmother was their youngest daughter, Ava. She married Ernest Vrooman and settled in Portland. My mom was their daughter Josie. My grandmother Ava and your grandfather Frederic shared a father but had different mothers. I suspect they must have known each other, although there was a big age difference.
I am impressed with and appreciate all the work you have done on the Houghtons. Is it ongoing? Are you in the Portland area?
