An inventory of the greater Portland area's public parks, as conducted by reading at least one chapter of the Bible in each of themParks Unable to Visit
As part of my effort to visit each of the Portland area parks and read a chapter of the Bible in each one, these parks were not able to be visited.
- Name of Park: Bundy
Location: SE Claybourne and 141st Avenue, Portland
Owner: unknown, probably city of Portland
Chapter(s) Read: -
Notes:Walked from bus route 10. As of late February 2003, this has been my only failure. It is completely surrounded by houses with large dogs. Approaching the park I was met by two large unsupervised and unrestrained dogs that did not wish for me to go past them down that road. Approach from SE 142nd Avenue also upset many local dogs and generated considerable annoyed looks from neighbors, and did not feel free to stay in the area. The park consists of future park lands, today consisting of an untamed wilderness with no visible trails.
- Name of Park: CE Mason Wetlands Park
Reason:: Park appears on map, but it is not possible to get to the park without tresspass on private land, but it is possible to see the preserved wetlands area from MAX.
- Name of Park: Flag Island Park
Reason:: Requires boat.
- Name of Park: Gary Island Park
Reason:: Requires boat.
- Name of Park: Goat Island Park
Reason:: Requires boat.
- Name of Park: Government Island Park
Reason:: Requires boat.
- Name of Park: Walker Field Park
Reason:: Park no longer appears to exist. Appears on map, but in reality the park signs all refer to the park as Cedar Hills Park, rather than separating Cedar Hills and Walker Field into two separate parks.
