About Brazil
I have put together this brief list of resources for those interested in finding out more about Brazil. Also try your favorite Web search engine. There is a lot of information available out there. In no way do I intend for this to be an international travel web site. If you find the information useful, that is good. If you don't find it useful, there are many other resources available. If you want to send me e-mail, go ahead.
On This Web Site:
- The Foz do Iguaçu - a few of my photos of this most wonderful of blessings given to South America.
- Brazil Notes - my responses to questions and so forth about Brasil
- Brazilian Portuguese - a few things I have learned about Portuguese, should you be wanting to visit Brasil and converse with native speakers in their language.
- The Bus - Brazil has a well developed bus system, and it can be worth it to use it. There are some things that are different, and be prepared for them. You may also find my going home report from December of 2000 of interest.
Elsewhere On The Web:
- The Cultural Context - BRAZIL - was produced by the Eaton Consulting Group, as part of their Country of the Month program. Some of what they say seems slightly inaccurate (for example, the Eaton's article describes the importance of hierarchial relationships, but the book Child of the Darkness describes Brazilians as being willing to take complaints directly to the president of the country), but most seems to be quite accurate in describing Brasil.
- The CIA World Fact Book - Brazil - The CIA World Fact Book was one of the earliest international cultural and country reference sites on the web. Say what you want about the CIA's secret side, their publication of this international reference has been a help to many on the Web over the years.
