Brasil 2004: Introductions

Saturday, July 10 and Sunday July 11 were days of introduction to the people in the church here in Cubatão, as well as those studying in the English school. These photos were from the camera owned by short term visitor to the mission field Annie who took some of them but some of the others were taken by others of her friends.

Because the church was originally started by those in the English school, there is a fair amount of English use in the church. This includes sermons and other teaching performed in both languages.

After the church service, there was a going-away party for Annie and Corrie, who had been visiting those in the church for approximately 6 months. Naturally, with that amount of time spent here, they had become quite close to a number of people here.

Wait, you need to be in this picture too!

I found that I was given a warm welcome from the church regulars. Hint: the gringo that just came from the USA is the one who didn't need winter clothes in 60 degree weather. Those living in the city for a while, including our short-term visitors, had all their winter clothes on.

Eventually someone decided that it would be a good idea to get a group photo. There may have been a few that didn't quite make it into the photograph. Those who are in the church include those that are slightly camera shy, those with a flair for the dramatic, and those with a more serious outlook on life.
