Martin Model has casting sets available for the popular Quorn tool grinder... The Quorn Universal tool and cutter Grinder is a
superb addition to any workshop needing to sharpen not only lathe tools,
but milling cutters, reamers, and so forth. There are two different versions of the Quorn: The
MKI and the MKII. The MKI is the earlier version and allows for many
different types of motors and sizes of pulleys. The MKII was designed
with a particular motor in mind. The MKII also has the addition of a
guard over the belt. The two castings that make up the wheelhead
assembly are the only other differences in the casting kits. The other
14 castings are identical in both casting kits. The book, “Quorn Universal Tool and Cutter
Grinder”, by Professor D.H. Chaddock describes not only how to machine
and build the Quorn and includes the many sharpening and grinding
operations it is capable of performing. Martin Model will soon have available accessories to make your Quorn easier to build and more versatile to use. A set of cast bronze ball handles, both large and small, for your Quorn will add a touch of distinction. A larger head to hold R-8 collets is also in the works.
